Hilke Altefrohne

Hilke Altefrohne studied Fine Arts at the HBK Braunschweig and Acting at the Westfälische Schauspielschule Bochum. Her engagements as an actress have taken her to the Schauspiel Frankfurt, the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin, and the Schauspielhaus Zürich.

She shares a long-standing collaboration with directors Antú Romero Nunes, Peter Kastenmüller, and Armin Petras. In 2004, Hilke Altefrohne was voted Upcoming Actress of the Year by the trade magazine Theater heute. She has also had other significant collaborations with Sebastian Nübling, René Pollesch, Jorinde Dröse, Alvis Hermanis, Jaz Woodcock-Stewart, and Felicitas Brucker.

Additionally, she works in film and television and has appeared in shows such as "Der Tatortreiniger". In 2018, she moved to Berlin with her family and made guest appearances at the Berliner Ensemble and the Deutsches Theater Berlin. Further projects have taken her to the Schauspiel Köln and the Theater Basel. Starting with the 2025/26 season, Hilke Altefrohne returns to the Schauspielhaus Zürich as a permanent ensemble member.
