On September 6, you can experience the creation process of DIE VERWANDLUNG up close. Shortly before the premiere on September 13, the Schauspielhaus Zürich invites you to a public rehearsal. The rehearsal will be followed by an audience discussion with director Leonie Böhm.

Neue Dramatik at Schauspielhaus

On September 6 and 7, we invite the authors of our world premieres to the Author's Salon as part of the Schiffbaufest: Caren Jeß (HEARTSHIP), Dea Loher, (FRAU YAMAMOTO IS STILL HERE), Maria Milisavljević (MADE OF DUST) and Maria Ursprung (HALLUCINATIONS) talk about their writing in conversation with the dramaturges of the production and actors from the ensemble read excerpts from the texts they have written.

Reading & Songs with Ensemble

Every hour on the hour in the Schiffbau-Halle, the ensemble reads well-known material from our season, secret gems from literary history or simply their favorite texts. There will also be music and singing, including excerpts from the upcoming song recital LASS UNS 'N WUNDER SEIN, which will be performed a week later at the Pfauen.

Concert: Konkolo Orchestra
6.9.24, 8:30pm, Moods
The Konkolo Orchestra is a Zurich-based band led by multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer Alexis Malefakis. Their debut single "Blue G" (2022) was already a hit, now the album "Future Pasts" (2024) follows, a collection of funky to jazzy Afrobeat and highlife songs. An exuberant atmosphere and dancing mood are guaranteed when the Konkolo Orchestra performs in front of its audience with its light-hearted lyrics, cheerful melodies and a powerful brass section.

Workshop painting studio

Paint your T-shirt with a brush and paint or choose one of the special stencils that you can use to design your own T-shirt. The T-shirt color is best in light/pastel colors. The colors cannot be washed out so that your artwork does not break in the washing machine.

A journey from set design to finished theater decoration

The workshop will use the stage set of the play "The Metamorphosis" to illustrate the process of creating a theater set - from the creative process to the stage set design, through the technical design and construction, to production in the workshops and assembly on stage.
The first part of the workshop will take the form of a presentation (with seating) and the second part will take the form of a tour of the stage set in the box (venue).

Objects on stage that are not part of the costume or the set are props. The term prop originates from the theater and is also commonly used in the film and television industry and for photo shoots. It refers to all important items of equipment that characterize a scene and make it authentic. In the workshop you will get a brief insight into the work of the prop maker and see how an object becomes a prop - from the idea to the realization and storage.

Peter drives up in his vintage camper van "Arnie", which is currently providing the stage and solar power for the concert. Peter Finc is a one-man band and takes concert-goers on a journey from singer songwriter, blues, reggae to rock. His groovy guitar sounds inspire young and old.
